These are the key frequencies and information you will need if you are flying in to Maypole Airfield
EGHB Frequency – SafetyCom 135.480
On approach, call Southend for LARS on 130.780

02-20 500m grass marked at N and S threshold with markers (may be obscured) alongside the runway edge. Clearways at either end (not useable in winter months) give 700m maximum. Surface beside runway NOT suitable for taxying. Important – all circuits must be flown to the WEST of the runway. Circuits at 800 ft to 1,000 ft to WEST of field only.
No overflying of Maypole village immediately to east of field. When using 20 you should avoid the houses by turning slightly left after take off .
Windsock close NW to runway edge. There is a public footpath which runs across the runway near the windsock. Keep a good lookout for pedestrians, farm vehicles and horses.
MOST IMPORTANT – Horses graze either side of the runway. During the day horses may be led across the runway. If you see them crossing, hold off until they are clear.
When using Maypole Aerodrome please help us by giving consideration to the local residents. You can do this by not over flying the houses, turning on to 180 deg M immediately after take off on 20 to avoid the properties at the south of the field, not doing prolonged engine runs on weekends and doing your pre take off checks at the threshold.
Use of the airfield by helicopters is welcomed but PPR on 01227 860374 is essential. We have a new dedicated parking area for helicopters to the north of the fixed wing parking lines.
Helicopters should approach from the North towards the windsock and then go East across the runway, to land in the helicopter landing area to the North of the fixed wing lines. All helicopter departures are to the North or NW away from the windsock. Please do not fly to the South of the windsock or overfly the grazing paddocks, unless specifically briefed to the contrary.
